The 2012 Who's Who of Solar Silicon Production (in preparation)
Overview of the report
The 2012 Who’s Who of Solar Silicon Production will build upon the Basic Edition of The Who’s Who of Solar Silicon Production
(issued in 2010). The 2012 edition will survey 140 companies in the polysilicon sector, assess the latest trends in manufacturing
technology as well as analyze the development of supply and demand through 2014 in detail.
This polysilicon report will again condense numerous details from primary market research and secondary sources in 85 concise company updates and contain production data for about 120 companies. It will cover incumbent manufacturers, new entrants and technology developers from:
- the Americas
- Europe
- Japan
- South Korea
- China
- Taiwan
- Russia/Commonwealth of Independent States
- India
- the Arabian Peninsula.
Four chapters will give you valuable insight into:
- new trends for polysilicon manufacturing technologies
- factors influencing the polysilicon spot price
- polysilicon supply in view of the shakeout of overcapacity
- the future development of polysilicon demand.
The report is an ideal guide for polysilicon, solar and
semiconductor companies, equipment suppliers and
engineering firms, investors, analysts and researchers alike.
2012 polysilicon report with unique details
- The price chapter will open The 2012 Who's Who of Solar Silicon Production with an analysis of the factors that have influenced the development of the spot price for polysilicon since 2010.
- The technology chapter will re-examine the technical viability and cost potential of 10 polysilicon manufacturing approaches, including the dominant Siemens process and physical purification methods to obtain upgraded metallurgical-grade (UMG) silicon – all in light of the recent market development and new technological achievements.
- The company chapter will cover capacity expansions and plant shutdowns, technological progress and project changes at
85 manufacturers and aspirants through concise updates, arranged according to world region and manufacturing approach. Each region will be introduced by a brief summary of location factors and/or development trends. - The supply chapter will provide production volumes and end-of-year capacities for about 120 polysilicon and UMG silicon plants and projects from 2008 through 2014. It will highlight the market shares of the top ten manufacturers and the distribution of the global production volume by world region.
- The demand chapter will quantify the polysilicon demand of the semiconductor and photovoltaic (PV) industries from 2009 through 2014. In particular, it will critically evaluate more than 60 analyst forecasts made about the newly installed PV capacities worldwide from 2008 through 2011 and use a proprietary approach in order to arrive at a more accurate prognosis of PV demand.
