The news about the severe accident that occurred at OCI Malaysia’s polysilicon plant last August is the number one among the top ten posts from Bernreuter Research on LinkedIn in 2024.

When an accident happens in the polysilicon industry, it is almost guaranteed that the news about it gains the most attention among the posts from Bernreuter Research on LinkedIn. It was no different with the severe accident that occurred at OCI Malaysia’s polysilicon plant last August, which cost two workers their lives and injured another eight. The sad news received the most clicks, reactions, comments and reposts in sum and thus is the number one among the top ten posts from Bernreuter Research on LinkedIn in 2024.

As in 2023, we have ranked our most popular posts on LinkedIn by the absolute amount of engagement (the sum of clicks, reactions, comments and reposts); we have also included the scope of engagement with the commenting repost of the respective topic by company head Johannes Bernreuter.

The second, fourth and sixth places are all occupied by PDF downloads, which confirms once again how popular such downloads are on LinkedIn: Two are press releases about the rapidly sinking polysilicon imports into China and a forecast of global PV installations in 2024, the third one is an analysis of the polysilicon market published in pv magazine. The latter even reached the highest engagement rate (ratio of absolute amount of engagement to the number of impressions), but had less impressions than the top three.

The third most popular post analyses wafer production as the Achilles’ heel of a non-Chinese supply chain. Number five is a LinkedIn article on the return of the pork cycle to the polysilicon market, an extract from our Polysilicon Market Outlook 2027 report.

Always popular are our analyses of the quarterly EBITDA results achieved by the polysilicon manufacturers Daqo New Energy, OCI, Wacker and REC Silicon. Two of these articles landed among the top ten posts (No. 7 and 8).

An assessment of key performance indicators that the world’s top four polysilicon manufacturers showed in the first half the year has come in on the ninth place. Our comparison of the amazing parallels between the polysilicon price developments in 2023 and 2011 is number 10 in our ranking.
